This one goes out to my chiropractor

I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone--and most importantly for this, everyone knows me--and everyone's really nosey and gossipy. I'm a mildly private person so when I suspected I was pregnant I knew it was going to be a hassle to get this thing going.

The first person I told was my chiropractor--in doctor-patient confidentiality, with the door closed, and I only told her because it might have been relevant. She mentioned the whole keeping-secrets dilemma. "You probably don't want to just walk into Town Drug and buy a pregnancy test." "Exactly." "You could drive to Fairborn but you don't have a car..." "I could probably borrow a car, but I would have to come up with a story of why I was borrowing the car."

She offered to buy a pregnancy test for me. I came back into her office later that afternoon and she handed it to me, concealed in a paper bag, and said, "Here are your supplements."

Once I decided to make it public, I only had to tell about a half a dozen people before it started to spread and I didn't really have to tell anyone else.
